Bernard was born abt 1849 Pomeroy, Tyrone, Northern Ireland

The first record of Bernard in England is in 1871 when he is boarding with another Irish family the Brannigans.

Sarah Brannigan was both abt 1854 Tyrone, Northern Ireland to Thomas and Isabella Brannigan

Sarah passed away on 8 October 1892 aged 39 after complications in childbirth. It looks the child was not born.

Leaving Bernard with six living children to care for.

Died:

3 Feb 1893 Consett iron works, Durham. Just 4 month after the passing of his wife Sarah.

Mcgough, a coke drawer at Spen Colliery, on February 5, 1893, while following his employment, he was crushed against the becoh wall by a truck running amain in the coke yard. Spen Colliery was owned by the Consett Iron Works at the time.

He was employed by the Consett Iron Company at the time of his death and his six children successfully sought damages under the Employer's Liability Act in respect of his death. £200 was awarded : eldest girl £20 ;the eldest boy £10 ; the next boy 15 years of age £10 ; the next boy 13 years of age £40 ; next boy 8 years of age £50 ; and the youngest girl 5 years of age £70 .
